My Doll House...
I have been working in Ft Worth for nearly a year. Living in hotels & a couple of different apartments...never really having the time to get settled. Up until recently, I only had the bare necessities. A mattress & box springs I purchased the 3rd month I was here, an office chair for the built-in desk I had at the 1st apartment, 3 camp chairs (living room furniture) & a blue cooler (coffee table). I looked like I was living in a guy's bachelor pad...minus the sink full of dishes...I didn't have any dishes to fill cupboards let alone a sink.
So, 2 weeks ago I convinced my parents to help me move some things from my storage south of San Antonio. We got to Ft Worth Monday evening...unloaded the trailer, trucks & the work began. There was so much to do & so little time to do it. I had furniture to refinish & repurpose. We needed to get this little apartment whipped into shape! There is a little man coming soon!
My dad stayed the rest of the week, doing handyman stuff. My mom agreed to stay for a few more days to help me get things put together. She started several painting projects last weekend. I was only allowed to watch. So, I did. She spent a good 3 days painting and another 2 days arranging furniture & decorating. All the things I love to do, but just don't have time for. Below are some pictures of the finished product. It looks fabulous!!! All thanks to my amazing Mom & Dad!!!

Sneak Peak!
My mom has been a machine...sewing up a storm. Sewing all kinds of projects...from receiving blankets to boppy covers to quilts! I just had to share a sneak peak of the crib quilt she is making.

Nursery...Take Two!
I have had this vision of a western/cowboy themed nursery. It has to be perfect & I am determined not to settle. Well, after weeks of looking for nursery items, I finally stumbled across “the one”. I ordered the crib bumper, crib skirt & some yard goods (Mom wanted to make the curtains, quilt & other accessories). We were both so excited! Then, I got this email from BabyBedding.com:
Subject: RE: Order Process#2017 Banana Fish
Date: January 3, 2011 11:09:02 AM CST
Dust ruffle and bumper are available but fabric by the yardage has been discontinued and sold out for this collection. Please advise if ok to process available items?
Seriously?!?! This was my response:
NO! Do NOT process! PLEASE cancel order! PLEASE update your website to reflect available items. VERY disappointed in your customer service, in that your website allowed me to order items that are not available. I had FINALLY found the perfect bedding for my baby boy's room & then I get an email from you. I think it stinks! Your company is messing around with the emotions of pregnant women...NOT cool! You have lost a customer. PLEASE fix your website so as to not cause unwanted distress & disappointment to more pregnant customers!
Thank you!

Who or What Stole My Cake?!?!?!
I came to Canyon Lake to celebrate New Year’s with my family & I still have not made it back to Ft. Worth. When anyone has asked me, “How are you feeling?” I have said, “Great! This being pregnant thing is cake!” Well, I guess I jinxed myself.
Last Sunday, I just wasn’t feeling myself. By Monday morning, I was in some intense pain. Since my doctor was at her other office, I scheduled an appointment with the nurse practitioner for 10AM. She listened to the baby’s heartbeat, said it sounded great & that the pain I was experiencing was normal pregnancy pains. HA! By Tuesday morning, I could barely walk. I called my doctor & she ordered a sonogram for that afternoon. The culprit, a fibroid tumor on my uterus. My doctor diagnosed it as being a degenerative fibroid tumor. Basically, the tumor & the baby compete for blood and oxygen. So when the tumor’s “new growth” is unable to get the blood & oxygen it needs to survive it begins to die off, causing pain & discomfort. NOT fun!!! I have included a picture of the fibroid below:
